Special impact: making a bee hotel

Are you aware of the distinction between honey bees and wild bees? Honey bees reside in hives tended by beekeepers and produce honey. On the other hand, wild bees inhabit natural habitats and play a crucial role in pollinating plants and flowers, aiding in the growth of vegetables, fruits, and other edible crops. Despite there being 358 species of wild bees in the Netherlands, they are facing challenges... but fortunately, there's something we can do to help! Would you like to contribute by creating a Bee Hotel or Bee Bed & Breakfast in your garden for these vital pollinators? Sign up, and we'll guide you through the process of easily constructing your own bee B&B. This challenge is also a wonderful activity to enjoy with kids!

Maplife beach using an app and contribute to the preservation of our coastlines ๐ŸŒŠ In recent years, Dutch beaches have experienced increasing crowding. Unfortunately, this surge in beachgoers has left little space for nature and biodiversity along the coast. The Green Beach project aims to address this issue. You can map a section of beach using a special app. By gathering data through the app, Het Groene Strand can assess the biodiversity of the beach and work towards enhancing this unique natural habitat in the Netherlands. You're guaranteed a delightful afternoon, with the sea, sand, and a positive impact (provided the weather cooperates!). Plus, you'll learn something new. Have you ever heard of knotweed? Or spotted a hermit crab? With Het Groene Strand's new search map and app, you can discover the various plants and animals that inhabit the beach. Click 'I'm in' to get started! Tip: Share this challenge with friends, family, or colleagues for added enjoyment and doubled impact!

Those literal thresholds are a great shame: we can prevent them together. ๐Ÿ“What can you do The Wheelmap app maps which places are accessible, or not. Long and hot showers... sometimes so wonderful, but it's not good for the planet, your skin and your wallet ๐Ÿ˜‰. Gas is required to heat your shower water. The longer and hotter the shower, the more gas you use. On average, people in the Netherlands shower for about 8 minutes. If you were to shorten this to 5 minutes, you could save around 35 euros per year on your energy bill. This amount could increase significantly if you live with multiple people or if you tend to shower for longer than 8 minutes. โฃ โฃ So, it's time to step out of your comfort zone and join the sustainable showering challenge. โฃ โฃ ๐ŸŒ What are the benefits? Participating in this challenge is beneficial for your health, your wallet, and most importantly, for our planet. โฃ โฃ ๐ŸšฟYou can take individual action You can opt for a shorter shower, a cold shower, or simply shower less frequently. It's all possible. โฃ โฃ Click the 'I'm in' button below, and we'll provide you with excellent tips to reduce your gas consumption!

Donate your old sleeping bag for the homeless

Tens of thousands of people will sleep in the cold tonight. Donate old sleeping bags and help the homeless through the night! Sheltersuit turns it into a wind and waterproof jacket with a zip-on sleeping bag, for anyone who is forced to sleep outside. โšก This is what you will do Every sleeping bag counts when you're literally out in the cold. So clean up your attic and that of others and collect all old sleeping bags. You can donate these at all Het Goed thrift stores in your area. Note: not every sleeping bag is usable. These are good: • Synthetic thick and thin sleeping bags; • Preferably washed and should be of somewhat good looking; • The zipper may be broken; • The liner must not be broken; • Down/wool sleeping bags cannot be donated, unfortunately. You can hand in your old sleeping bags with every acceptance of goods at one of the 28 thrift stores of Het Goed. ๐ŸŒ™ For this you make all the difference Sheltersuit helps homeless people and refugees who are forced to sleep outside. Due to the increasing demand from aid organizations at home and abroad, no less than 16,500 sleeping bags are needed. By handing in a sleeping bag to Het Goed you make it possible that our social workshops can continue to make Sheltersuits and thus create permanent work. Will you lend a hand? You really make a difference with it and it also makes your attic happy. Thank you in advance!

Help refugee children through play & exercise

Weekly ยท 3 to 5 hours
TeamUp

"They can be a child again for a while... nice that you can give that in a few hours a week. After TeamUp I go home with a satisfied feeling!". โœจ What are you going to do As a volunteer for TeamUp (a program of Save the Children, UNICEF Netherlands and War Child) you offer psychosocial support to refugee children through play and exercise. Through play, children learn to deal with emotions such as anger, fear and stress. You will be trained and supervised in advance and will work at a reception location near you. You are part of an enthusiastic team with other volunteers. At a fixed time during the week, you and your team will guide activities for children aged 6 to 18 years. These activities have a theme and purpose. The activities make children feel safe and protected, more connected to their peers and more optimistic. You also have a signaling role. You learn how to recognize worrying behavior and, if necessary, refer children to specialized care and guidance. โœ… This is you: • Experience in organizing activities for children. Or you have relevant work experience or completed training (or are still studying) in the field of pedagogy, education, social work, sports, games and/or exercise; • Available half a day during the week (3 to 5 hours), from approximately 3.30 pm (day and time varies per location); • Available for a longer period (at least a number of months or longer). Stability is essential for this vulnerable group of children; ๐ŸŽ‰ This is what we offer: • A position to gain work experience in this field and to develop yourself further; • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of refugee children, you make an important contribution to their psychosocial well-being; • A place in an international, enthusiastic and professional volunteer team; • Training and follow-up training in facilitating the activities and working with this specific target group; • Counseling and stress management sessions; • Volunteer events; • Travel allowance; Do you recognize yourself in the description and do you think you fit in with our team? Comment below and we will contact you as soon as possible. Child safety is essential for TeamUp. TeamUp therefore does not accept any form of abuse. This subject is addressed in our recruitment and selection procedures. TeamUp is a joint program of Save the Children, UNICEF Netherlands and War Child. TeamUp is made possible in part by the Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration (AMIF).

Restore benefits affair in your region

Project ยท 10 to 15 hours in total
Stichting (Gelijk)waardig Herstel

For everyone who wants to do something for parents and families affected by the childcare allowance affair. A foundation by and for parents of the allowance affair For years, parents have been wrongly accused by the Tax Authorities as fraudsters, with unprecedented emotional, relational and financial consequences. Unfortunately, there are tens of thousands of families who suffer from the consequences of the allowance affair and they are still waiting for recovery. As a volunteer of the (Equal) Worthy Recovery Foundation, you can provide direct support and make a difference for a family. Since October 2023, the (Equal) Worthy Recovery Foundation has been offering a people-oriented recovery approach developed by parents and independent (personal injury) experts. We work from our own direction, trust, neutrality and collectivity. Our goal is to resolve the allowance affair together more quickly and to offer parents the opportunity for emotional and financial recovery. To be able to do this for the many affected parents, we need you! Where you can make a difference for a parent by participating as a Listening Writer. This is what you do as a Listening Writer The recovery route focuses on the parent's own story, the Factual Account. In order to put this on paper, the parents (the Storytellers) are supported by a Listening Writer: a volunteer from society who listens without judgement and writes down the Parent's Factual Account. For the parent, the Factual Account consists of 3 parts: who were you before all the misery started, where are you now and where do you want to go? When the Factual Account is on paper, the parent can choose to have it calculated. In this way, as a volunteer, you make an important contribution to the parent's emotional and financial recovery. This is who you are as a Listening Writer Perhaps you have been following the news for years, the benefits affair affects you, you feel the urgency, and you want to do something concrete. By helping out, you are in fact saying to the people involved: I see and believe you. It is precisely this equality that motivates you to use your time and skills. As a person, you connect easily, equally and respectfully. You are open and curious about the person involved. You can listen deeply, unbiased and without (pre)judgments. You dare to ask questions and know how to create a safe environment. In addition, you are a fellow resident of the Netherlands. We advise you to register from the age of 21, because impactful events are discussed during the conversation. Some life experience is required to deal with this well. It is necessary to have a laptop and/or tablet in combination with a smartphone. Some IT skills are also useful: both the Storyteller and Listening Writer work in our online Portal. As a Listening Writer, you participate in a digital Start Meeting (1 hour), so that you can learn more about the role of Listening Writer and can get started well. Practice shows that being a Listening Writer requires an average of between 10 and 15 hours. This can vary, because the parent is in charge of the process and determines the speed. Register now! Do you also want to make a difference by connecting with a parent? Do you want to contribute to our goal of resolving the benefits affair more quickly? There are benefits parents in all regions of the Netherlands, including your region. Register via our website and become part of our independent collective. You can also help by sharing the Luisterend Schrijver call in a way that suits you (social media, in your organization, in your network). We also like to work together with Partners. Are you interested in more information about a collaboration? Then send a message!
