Hedgehogs have less and less space to live. They could really use our help! Every year, 135,000 hedgehogs die in traffic alone. Fortunately, we can help the hedgehogs. The Netherlands has 3 billion square meters of garden. And gardens are an important habitat for hedgehogs. A place where they find food and shelter. By helping hedgehogs in your garden, they don't have to travel long distances to find enough food. There is less chance that they have to cross a road. You can make a difference with your garden. Make your garden hedgehog-friendly: build a hedgehog house, provide a few junk corners and food in your garden. Together we make the whole of the Netherlands a home for hedgehogs. There is a special place in the Kralingse Bos: the Wolvenvallei. In 2020, the forest here has been redesigned. Space has been made for a creek with nature-friendly banks. The municipality of Rotterdam follows the development of this new biotope by sharing photos. The photo series can be followed online via a timelapse. Buddy for the elderly

Enjoy a walk in the park with a resident of Aafje Meerweide, do your shopping in the Keizerswaard shopping center, have a chat, read the newspaper or drink a cup of coffee. How nice it is to know that someone is there for you, someone who wants to listen to you, has patience and wants to talk to you. Our residents are looking forward to seeing you! If this appeals to you, if you have time in the morning or afternoon of the week, then we are looking for you. You are motivated to do volunteer work, you can deal well with the elderly, we can count on you (agreement is an agreement), you can drive a wheelchair or want to learn this, you are available for at least 2 hours a week.

Hi, We are looking for volunteers for our Child Center to work in the kitchen, housework and/or other jobs. We work with children aged 0-13 and could use some extra hands within our foundation. We cook a hot meal for the children every day in our kitchen. The children like to play in a clean environment, we keep all areas clean for them. We have a garden, a gardener or woman is also welcome. We would like to hear from you if you would like to help us.

Here at the Smeetsland nursing home there are many activities that take place in a different room than in the living rooms. And to move the residents to this space, volunteers are needed who also help during this activity by sharing coffee and tea and by supporting the resident with e.g. singing, playing shuffleboard, crafting, etc.

Church Service Volunteer

On Sunday morning there is a church service for the residents of Smeetsland that we can use help with because the participants have to be picked up from the department. During and after the service, help is also needed to distribute the coffee and bring the participants back to the ward. There are already several volunteers who are committed to this, but because of the large number of participants, more volunteers are needed. You don't have to be a practicing Roman Catholic or Protestant, but you do have to respect other people's beliefs. If you have some time left for this beautiful task, please register.
