how it works
Step 1: Translate the website to your own language
First, make sure you translate the website to English or another language you are most comfortable in. Click here to find out how to translate the website.
Step 2: Find volunteer work that you like
On the homepage you'll find a bar where you can enter your zip code or city. After you entered this you can choose how far from your own zip code you want to travel to do the volunteer work (2km / 5km/ 10km etc.). On the right you will find the two choices: 'Ik wil helpen' which means I want to help, or 'Ik zoek hulp' which means I am looking for help. Make sure that the box 'Ik wil helpen' is filled with the colour green when you are looking for volunteering vacancies. Click on 'Zoeken' which means search.
You will now see a list of questions / vacancies. If you are looking for a particular kind of voluntary work you can click on the categories on the left to specify the vacancies.Step 3: Get in touch
Have you found something that suits you? Make contact by sending a message (green button 'Stuur een bericht'). In order to write a reaction you must register yourself. Here you can find more information about how to create an account. After the first contact back and forth, it is good to make an introductory appointment. We wrote down some tips about making contact for you.
Step 4: Yes, you found your match!
YES, you have found a match! This can be for a one-day job or long-term contact like a buddy. Whatever it is, you are making Rotterdam a bit more beautiful by your help. Enjoy your volunteer work and don't forget to leave a thank you or a recommendation for your match. -
inspiration for your profile
Step 1: Tell people your level of Dutch proficiency
Explain in your profile that you don't speak or maybe speak a little bit of Dutch. In this way people know what they can expect.
Step 2: Tell something about yourself and make it personal.
Add a profile picture so people can see what you look like. People will read your profile and decide if they want your help or not, so make it inviting:).
Step 3: Tell something about the kind of voluntary work
Explain what kind of voluntary work you are looking for and at what days and what time you are available. Would you like to help someone once a week or maybe every month? This information will help others to send you a message.
Examples of profiles can be found here. -
